To maintain its position, it continues introducing better and even attractive features on their smart phone as well as improving on the above expectations. Eg. the first iphone does not even have a video recording function. Now, the latest Iphone 4 has and even have additional features like facetime that lured even more customers than chose apple over other brands of smartphone.
2)With "forever expanding" of apps in Apple well known appstore, consumers get hooked onto their updated and new apps that cater to their every single needs be it in terms of entertainment, dining, shopping etc. In addtion, taking a look at all Apple retail stores, they all have attractive looking interior that appeals to passing consumers.

The number of suppliers of smart phones and Apple can be said to have somewhat dominant position on smart phones with the only significant competitors being BlackBerry and HTC. They are also one step ahead of consumer tastes and preferences by in fact developing these tastes and preferences by differentiating themselves from others in design of their products. These features all make apple products as user-friendly as possible. 2)Apple is always coming up with new improved products periodically i.e. iphone 1,2,3… with appealing yet simple design. It adds aspiration values to its product and has captured the market of new buyers of smart phones. So creating new demand for smart phones but nearly all new buyers .As it always comes up with new idea, it attracts consumers as they don’t want to be caught using the previous design when there is improved version of it. (consumer’s tastes and preferences) 3) Due to excellent marketing strategies, apple creates an inelastic demand for its smart phones. Thus consumers’ are willing to pay a higher price for its smart phones. Other producer found themselves losing market share rapidly to apple. Hence Apple increases supply of smart phones as it increases the demand for them. The market equilibrium shifts to the left of the demand-supply graph.
